The way I make my sauteed mushrooms with garlic is a simple, quick and delicious way that will please anyone.  It has 25 calories per 100 grams which is equivalent to 1 cup. It can be incorporated into any weight loss menu plan, complement any weight loss system that you may be on.

Ingredients.

  • 4-6 cups washed mushrooms chopped – Tip: you can mix your mushrooms example: 2 cups of white button mushrooms and 2 cups of cremini mushrooms
  • 4 tbsp of olive oil
  • 1 1/2 tbsp of grass-fed butter (if not available you can use 1 tbsp of unsalted/salted butter)
  • 1 medium-size onion chopped
  • 2 tbsp of chopped fresh parsley or dried
  • 1 sprig of fresh thyme or 1/2 tsp of dried thyme
  • 4 cloves of garlic minced (if you want to add more you can)
  • 1/4 cup of white wine (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste.

Preparation

  • Add butter and oil to pan and heat on medium-high heat
  • Add chopped onions and saute until translucent 1 – 2 minutes
  • Add the chopped mushrooms and saute for 5 minutes – you will start to see the water starting to evaporate from the mushrooms.
  • Add the wine.
  • Add your parsley, thyme and garlic
  • Salt and pepper to taste.

Because I wash my mushrooms, they absorb water so sauteing them for 20 – 30 minutes, making sure you stir frequently you will start to see most of the liquids from the washed mushrooms and wine evaporate making the mushrooms more dryer.  You will see the mushrooms are starting to caramelize and slightly brown and that’s when you know it’s ready to plate.

And… ENJOY!

I hope this Healthy dish inspires you and helps you get started to a healthy lifestyle that you can enjoy and maintain.
